How Pipkin Homes brought all the style of Dallas luxury to a quiet suburban neighborhood.
Craig and Carol came to Pipkin Homes with a simple request: they wanted their home to have all the style of a Dallas loft. The only problem was, they were living in a sprawling neighborhood 30 min outside the city in a traditional suburban home. They needed more space for their growing family of 6, but they didn’t want to compromise the style they love. Our solution? Open up the floor-plan and modernize the finishes to strike the perfect balance they needed.

Having an open floor-plan was key to making the space match the style Craig and Carol had in mind. Pipkin Homes eliminated walls that divided rooms, opening up the kitchen and living space to entertain friends and family. In addition, a new ceiling was engineered with I-Beams to carry the load over a 35 ft span, elevating the ceiling height and opening up the space vertically. The traditional textured drywall was replaced by a contemporary smooth finish, and the tile floors were updated to beautiful modern hardwoods throughout.
The kitchen features a spacious bar with enough seating for their large family. For the countertops, we installed stunning white quartz. Because quartz countertops are manufactured, the color and pattern can look almost identical to granite or marble, but hold up better against staining, heat and bacteria—making it perfect for any busy kitchen.
The master bath took on a complete transformation as well. Pipkin Homes installed all new natural stone tile, custom floating vanities, and modern lighting and plumbing fixtures, complete with a luxurious freestanding bathtub. The master closet was custom designed and built with his and hers wardrobes in mind. Every item reflects that transitional appeal that Carol wanted to achieve.
As a final detail, Carol and Craig put the finishing touch on their new home with a hearth hand crafted from a tree that had fallen in their front yard. It was then mounted to a wall of natural stone so that it appears to float above the beautiful wood floor below.
Combing the natural stones and woods with the straight-line details gives their newly remodeled home a organic contemporary style that is uniquely tailored to meet their lifestyle.
