A Touch of
Open Spaces and Rustic Roots
Tony and Amber live outside of Dallas, TX in the beautiful suburb of Flower Mound. With their growing family, they wanted to open up the living and kitchen space to the center of social activity — their backyard pool. Amber also wanted to bring in a few rustic touches of wood from her families farm. Pipkin Homes stepped in to help the family achieve their vision.

One of the most important elements to Tony and Ambers’ home reconstruction was pool visibility. Before the remodel, the pool could not be seen from inside the house. Pipkin Homes opened the brick wall and installed a sliding glass panel system to enhance the overall flow of the home inside and out. Now the living area has more natural light, the view of the pool can be enjoyed from the kitchen and family room, and on nice days they can open the up the doors for a seamless connection of both indoor and outdoor living.
The glass door addition required a patio entrance. Flagstone made an excellent choice of material in creating a second outdoor living area. A covered patio was constructed with exterior fans to provide weather protection and a shady cool environment. A custom designed TV cabinet was added to the back patio constructed with lively colors and decorative barn hardware. Spurs were used as handles to give this piece an artistic touch.
We all know that the kitchen is the center of every home. Amber wanted a kitchen make-over that would give new life to the entire space. The cabinets in the kitchen were given an antique finish, new paint colors were selected for walls, a new tumbled stone backsplash was added, and stainless steel appliances were installed.
It was important to Amber to bring in the rustic touches with wood from her families farm. A new bar design incorporated this wood underneath, and was created around the peninsula to allow for more seating and counter space. A custom built-in entertainment center was added that conceals A/V components and provides additional storage. Pipkin Homes also built a custom barn door with wood planks from the barn for the upstairs game room.
– Project Highlight –
The house greets you with a warm smile at the front door. Pipkin Homes introduced a beautiful new wrought iron front door with decorative details and hinged glass panel. The door allows the sun to illuminate the hand scraped hardwood floors, and matching stair case.
